The Blue & Gold Banquet is an annual event dedicated to
celebrating the anniversary of the pack and also to honor the Webelos II
Scouts that transition, or cross the bridge, from Cub Scouts to Boy
Scouts. This year, eleven Webelos from Pack 74 crossed the bridge to
Troop 474.
The Blue and Gold Banquet is also an opportunity to
thank pack leaders and other adults who have helped the pack, and to
inspire the leaders, Scouts, and parents.
Last night, Scouts &
their families gathered in fellowship hall to eat dinner together before
the celebrations began. Representatives from Simon Kenton Council came to share information on the new scouting recruitment video and details of the summer camps that they offer.
Pack
74 Cubmaster Kelly Sellers thanked Webelos II Den leaders, parents and
volunteers for all their hard work and dedication to pack 74. This
included Webelos II Den Leaders Jeremy Alder, Carl Aveni and Julia
McCarter, as well as Assistant Cubmasters Jeff Buterbaugh and Ian
McBride.
The "Crossing the Bridge" ceremony saw the
eleven Webelos cross a bridge on the stage, to be met by a group of Boy
Scouts, that shook their hands, gave them new neckerchiefs & Boy
Scout manuals, and welcomed them into Troop 474. It was a poignant moment for all in the room.
After the formal proceedings, a ventriloquist provided very funny entertainment for all.
It
was a really great night for all involved, and Pack 74 wishes the
eleven Boy Scouts much success and happiness in their future Scouting
adventures.
